Matt Henshaw = One to Watch for 2012 ...
As far as lists go, there are many on the inside and outside telling who to look out for and listen out for in 2012 ... I'm so pleased to tell you that I'm not on a list that belongs to Dante or Nostradamus but an independent music industry insider along with a whole host of other acts as one to keep an eye on over the next twelve months ... I hope I don't disappoint, and as always I'll tell all here first on my ever popular bloggity blog ...
Matt Henshaw in the mix and one to watch for 2012 ...

A Very Special Christmas Guest ... Matt Henshaw (Little Old Me!)
Morning, Afternoon, Evening, (depending upon when you catch up on your favourite blog!),
Enjoying a festive Christmas break with the family and an assortment of friends when I get a call from them jolly cockneys the Small Fakers to guest with them at The Flowerpot in Derby ... only a ten minute drive and I've never played in there before, so why not? I went on in the interval between their hits set and a full blown retelling of the classic 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' ...
Three songs and a little bit of humorous wit from myself nattering between the three songs ...
It Ain't Easy
My Life
Bonne Nuit Madame (Goodnight My Lady)
A little minor distressing news, I'm having technical delays (namely my CD drive not working on my laptop) so I can't bring you my radio session from Tamworth as soon as I would have like, but I will find another computer to get it online for you ASAP ... although, I must be honest, between the turkey and various M&S desserts, finding a working disc drive is not at the top of my priorities, but that's not to say I don't love you ...
... and to prove I love you, here's a link to a FREE Matt Henshaw download ...
With Love, and extra Love,
Matt Henshaw.
PS. this is me playing Live as I sometimes do, not as often as maybe I would like to or should ...

Laughs and Giggles ...
What a "Segsational night" ... (this blog is brought to you by Terry's ... the chocolate orange people) ...
Tim Minchin is really rather quite funny isn't he ... quite the Christmas treat, and making me think of my brother sipping white wine on the beach in Australia this Christmas was quite bittersweet, as I type at you from London approaching a Christmas in Derbyshire via Nottingham, Tamworth, Birmingham, Derby and Leicester I wish I could throw another shrimp on the barbie this Christmas. Nevermind, I'll make do with an Iceland prawn party ring.
Paul Weller was great obviously, and great to hear a good set comprised of songs only two of which were over 5 years old. I think some of the older contingent would've left unhappy if he hadn't closed with a seemingly reluctant encore of 'Town Called Malice' ...
Anyhoo, I think I'm gonna be on an FM radio Christmas extra special on Friday night ... I'll let you know more as soon as I know.
Peace & Love, scroll down for a picture of me trying to stare into your soul,
Matt H. x
Spongebob Squarepants body?? Such an angular shoulder !!!

Stand-Up and Rock ... Comedy and the Weller ...
Morning folks,
Went to see some comedy last night, and tickled I was indeed. The Beta Males hosted a night of sketch comedy up in North London, the headline act was the highly humorous Max & Ivan ... no doubt all involved will be making huge amounts of money for making us laugh on the BBC and Channel 4 very soon.
Tonight I'll be seeing an interesting selection of acts at the Hammersmith Apollo charity event for Crisis, Stand-Up & Rock. Paul Weller, Graham Coxon, Jo Brand, Tim Minchin and Ross Noble ... I hope to laugh, yet again, and boogie in equal measure ...
Here's a couple of images of me laughing this morning ...
I'll probably let you know if it's any good or not ...

ReggiiMental's Mental YouTube playlist ...
They've only done gone and done it ain't they?! The kind folks at YouTube have sequenced their algorhythms to collect a set of Jimmy B-Boy's best bits on their video streaming website, just as they had for little old me earlier in the year.
You can catch me on a few of those videos, The Deepest Cellar sessions and The Fire Pit are included plus Reggii's old days with Gnostix and the Shady Rezidents ... hope you like their picks, and make sure you watch once or twice ...
Love, Love and I Love You All !
Matt H. x
PS. I like to get very close to my collaborators ... it all gets a bit Morecambe and Wise ...

Premier League XIs / elevens / 11s (continued) (cont.) post-millennium ...
A continuation now of my seemingly popular football blogging ... the discussion / debate rages on the best Premier League side since its inception in 1992 (when Sky "invented football" according to the dirty Leeds fan) ... we turn our attention to a hand picked selection of players that you might pick to beat any other eleven ... think on ...
Did anyone watch any of them FA YouTube videos were current and former players picked their best all-time 5-a-side team ... horrendous, I can't believe the FA would publish them ... was it purely to prove how thick footballers really are??? Ashley Young, for example, picked a team of 6 players (for a 5-a-side team), all current England players (of all-time Ashley, seriously?) and included himself (again, seriously?) ... anyway, we thought we'd have a crack at picking our top 11 players that have graced the English Premier League since the Millennium Bug didn't destroy us all ...
So, without any Sheffield Wednesday players to distract me, or bias my selection (oh that will be to come, think on) ... I picked my team from the cream of the crop and thought they were quite good, what do you think? Who would you pick?? Who would you drop???
GK - Edwin Van Der Sar
RB - Gary Neville
LB - Ashley Cole
CB - Jaap Stam
CB - Roberto Carvalho
DM - Michael Essien
AM - Frank Lampard / Steve Gerrard
RW - Christiano Ronaldo
LW - Thierry Henry
SS - Wayne Rooney
CF - Didier Drogba
As you can see, I haven't ventured too far away from the big 4, not at all in fact, which players from outside the top 4 would make it into your first eleven?? JJ Okocha?
Also, if pushed I would go for Frank Lampard in the Lampard / Gerrard debate but I copped out and stuck them both in there ... who would you pick?
And you can still vote on your best Premiership XI here ... Mourinho's Chelsea winning so far ...

I don't use Facebook but ...
Someone just sent me this and it is really truly very funny and maybe the kids will get a grasp of history too if it is written like this ...
Also, you can "Like" me on there ... if you don't then you don't have to ... but, you probably should, especially if you're one of those download music illegally type kind of guys ... not just out of courtesy but because my mate ReggiiMental has a habit of posting free stuff on there for y'alls to enjoy ... Enjoy !

Back in The Deepest Cellar with ReggiiMental ...
Morning folks,
Yesterday was a great stretch of time catching up with my old partner in crime and demo-ing some new tunes (you'll hear them in good time) ... but as we grew nostalgic and wistful for what was only a year or so ago we thought we'd do a special little acoustic version of a Deepest Cellar favourite ... and here I've uploaded it at a gift for you, the performance isn't the best and ReggiiMental aka. Mr. Jimmy B-Boy sounds like he's skulking round outside the vocal booth but it's a five minute slice of our time just for you ... enjoy!
The new demos sound great - guitar solo alert! - and I'm very much looking forward to getting a full band on them ... and what's that, did someone say an accordion ???

A Little Musical Update ... plus bonus Christmas Dinner blog ...
Even though my recent football blogs have proved to be my most popular ever ... even more so than the picture of me and my mate Will Young and the week I passed my driving test (it pleases me no end that you're so interested and supportive!) ... I thought I'd return today to the reason I presume you're all here in the first place, and certainly why I set up this blog in the first place: to inform and update you with my musical adventures ... I've been quite busy of late in my secret identity, getting things done and certain things written ... so, new paragraph ...
I've written four new songs this week. The first of which is quite possibly one of the worst things I've ever written and sang out loud, although only to myself, called 'A Domino Effect', it actually had the rhyme of "moon" and "June" ... terrible, you'll never hear it ... but the other three are quite a different story entirely ... three of my favourite songs I've ever written, even though perhaps you always feel that way when you first write them, I really feel like they're some of the best things I've ever written and sang aloud, and this time to people who agree. Of late I have been listening to a lot of Sam Cook (obviously!), Juliette Gréco and Serge Gainsbourg, and watching a lot of soppy films but I won't go into what they are (I might reveal all of my real influences one day!) ... you will hear them, eventually. I am heading to my mate ReggiiMental's basement studio (The Deepest Cellar) tomorrow to lay down some acoustic demos, and to catch up and that, it's been a while.
A quick update on 'Living with a Dirty Leeds Fan' ... we had a Christmas dinner tonight which was lovely, everyone contributing, plenty of sprouts, potatoes, cabbage and of course a big cooked bird plus some pigs in blankets and a gammon shank ... because one load of meat is just not enough, and even though I've flirted with it, I'm not sure vegetarianism could be a serious consideration within my current lifestyle ... I already don't drink, and people think that's eccentric enough ... ... furthermore to the tale, his date went well, she did indeed enjoy here milkshake, laugh at his terrible jokes and play with her hair ! That boy talks some serious Phil Babb-le, and can't help but use awful football puns ...
We even had Christmas crackers complete with Christmas hats ...
Bye for now,
Matt H x
PS. GOTF (Guffaw on the Floor) should be the new LMAO ...
PPS. don't make me wait for my food ...

Ferguson gives out the De Gea-dryer ... Premier League XIs/11s/elevens (continued) click youself a button on the poll machine ...
Well, what an interesting night of Champions League football ... the Champagne corks pop around London and at the Channel 5 offices as the Europa League just got a heck of a lot more interesting ...
With the fantastic response I had yesterday I've decided to put the options in a nice little box for you to pick your first choice, discuss amongst yourself if you have any reservations or reasons why you've opted for your final choice over another that nearly made it ... as for the questions I have come across and received ... this is a question of starting elevens, man to man on a rainy day in South Yorkshire ... which team would beat the other three on any given day at Hillsborough ???
Vote Away !
Who cares what Gareth Southgate thinks ???
With Love,
Matt Henshaw
PS. BUY MY SHIT !
PPS. Living with a Dirty Leeds fan ... this is a new section of the blog that I'll update you on from time time, witticisms, quotes and tales from the mouth of the dirty Yorkshire b*stard ... "Manchester United losing and getting knocked out of the Champions League is better than sex" ... he now on a date buying a girl milkshakes, making her laugh and causing her to play with her hair ... bon chance mon frere !!! Stay Tuned ...

Premier League XIs / 11s / elevens ...
A slight diversion in the trail of my blogs of late ... had a raging debate earlier with a flatmate (resisting the urge to use the phrase "mass debate" in this blog terribly so) about football players and who would go in your choice starting elevens ... I'll probably split up the categories over a number of blogs in the hope that it may start a further online debate ... one might say a lovely viral mass debate ... oops! Ask your facebook friends and post on Twitter ... feed me back some info ... 'tis all I want for Christmas ...
So, the topic that brought about the conversation ... we first discussed the best Premier League XI ... the choices were ... Machester United's treble winning side of 1999 ... Arsenal's unbeatable invincibles ... Chelsea under Mourinho ... or the current crop of chaps turning out for Manchester City ...
Hint, Hint - my choice ^^^ ...
Now, of course we may be a little premature with the current Manchester City team (I didn't pick the options, it was all the dirty Leeds that I share a kitchen and a bathroom with!) but just go with it and see who you reckon ... and it's a different age what with more regular squad rotation etc. ... surely no-one believes David May would get into City's current second XI ... so think of it as on the day, storngest side, first XI, no injuries, fully fit and ready for war ... and seeing as it's an English thing we'll say it's to be played on a rainy day in South Yorkshire ... Hillsborough perhaps ... fetch the canoe !
Manchester United's treble winners
Arsenal Invincibles
Mourinho's Chelsea
Manchester City's current team
Think on and I'll be back with more ...

Matt Henshaw Live @ the 100 Club (images) ...
As promised, here's an image / picture / visual photographic illustration of me playing at the 100 Club at the Christmas Mod Ball for Wapping Wharf with Geno Washington, Melanie Dayna and the Small Fakers ... what a jolly pleasant evening it was too ...
Lovely houndstooth pants right there ... and what a crescent moon face ... and if you could see the spot shining on the side of my nose like a star you could suggest it signals my conversion to Islam (and around Christmas time, what scandal!) ...
And here's Geno Wahsington's sax duo ... Little & Large ... fabulous !
More to come ? We'll see ... ta-ta for now ...

The Xmas Mod Ball with Geno Washington ...
What a splendid evening, I got up and did my thing, but enough about me ...
Geno! Geno! Geno! What a performer, coming on looking like Othello, aged 68, quoting Shakespeare and singing like a proper bona-fide soul brother #1 ! His set was like a soul compilation CD I made back in the day - before mp3 players, but after cassettes - classic after classic and he didn't come up for air, just down with the soul and funk and more 'tween song witticism than any performer I've seen ...
Love to the Small Fakers and Melanie Dayna and John Hellier and all who enjoyed also ...
So, boxed ticked, played the legendary 100 Club ... seen the equally as legendary Geno Washington and shook his hand ... sorry, no pics ... they may follow, keep it locked on MattHenshaw11 - the blog that's 11 times as good as any other, or maybe you should read it eleven time-a-day to digest it properly because it's so erudite and literate - or maybe someday I'll tell you the true story of the number 11 ... I'll save that for a particularly slow news day ...
I needs to get me one of them smart phones dun'I ...
PEACE and Merry Chrimbo all the same ! x

Geno! Geno! Geno! What a performer, coming on looking like Othello, aged 68, quoting Shakespeare and singing like a proper bona-fide soul brother #1 ! On the first day of Chri... December ...
I guess it's a warm welcome to the festive season for y'all, even though it feels like it's been approaching Christmas from the moment the Halloween costumes went away, or Guy Fawkes said "ta ra" from the top of the bonfire (effigies talk like Cilla Black you know?!) ...
Eagle eyed and eared Matt Henshaw followers from yester-year will know that I usually get pretty diary happy over the Christmas season ... tales of Psammead and the snakes and gifts for all and sometimes recipes - yes, it's been known - so we'll just have to wait and see how much I can offer you in the year of our Lord 2011 ...
This is me this afternoon working on my George Harrison 1968 look ...
I hope to see a few of you at the 100 Club this weekend for my little guest slot with Geno Washington ... should be a heck of a lot of festive fun !
