Matt Henshaw - Belief Is All
The moment you lie awake and you start to sink
If only for your own sake, yes, you begin to think
You breathe in, you breathe out and you breathe in the air
The sky and your mind is clouded up with despair
You clasp your hands together and you pray to the skies
Although your words mean something you still fear for your life
You tell me how you are feeling and the things you've seen
Well, que sera my boy, yes, where we'll be we'll be
What do you believe in, and what do you feel?
Where do you want to go and what do you want to see?
Belief Is All we have and all we need
To help us to think and to feel and make us succeed
What do you believe in, and what do you feel?
Where do you want to go and what do you want to see?
Belief Is All we have and all we need
To help us to think and to feel and make us succeed
If only for your own sake, yes, you begin to think
You breathe in, you breathe out and you breathe in the air
The sky and your mind is clouded up with despair
You clasp your hands together and you pray to the skies
Although your words mean something you still fear for your life

Peace, Love & Tea Everybody ! Hope you're all well ...
Peace, Love & Tea Everybody ! Hope you're all well ...
I've been a little out of action over the last 3 months, without any real access to the internet at home and minimal mobile data, in the modern world it's been very difficult to communicate with you all. Don't blame me, blame the not so good people at TalkTalk. Fingers crossed I'll have more luck with my new provider ...
In many ways it's put a pause on all things Peace, Love & Tea in my one man "business" world, but in other ways it's been bliss, as Sophocles alluded, "Ignorance is", whilst I've missed your communication, love and support, I've also missed out on all the "banter", "locker room talk" and general nonsense that comes with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram et al.
But, I have been busy, a successful festival run with the band, a trip into Notts TV, a quick chat with BBC Introducing, and there is new music on the way. So if you'll allow me to get all my houses in order, I've got some exciting updates to come and plenty more Matt Henshaw brand Peace, Love & Tea to share.
In the meantime, please keep watching the vids, sharing the tunes and I look forward to seeing you at a show or sharing your comments on my work in the near future.
Peace, Love & Tea indeed, MHx

Another Week, 2 Nights in Osnabruck - German Tour Blog
Hola mi amigos, or hallo meine freunden,
This week included 2 nights at the fabulously named Big Buttinsky in Osnabruck. Just one of the fabulous places I have played and visited this tour.
And England only went and beat Germany on Saturday night !! I was playing in Osnabruck when this was happening. I wasn't going to mention it on stage, partly out of fear, but before I played my encore, I had to ask what score it was, someone told me from their phone it was 2-2. Pleased with that, and thinking "I hope Vardy scored ..."
Then off stage in the process of shifting some vinyl a kid comes running up - "England just scored ! In the last minute !! Erik somebody !!!" - haha ! Great night ... and then I went to watch the highlights with a real life German celebrity ... more on that next time ...
Last night at the Katakomben in Achim, great to see some old faces, and get requests for some Small Faces. It'a a bit like the Cavern down there, or more like under London Bridge, but trying it's best to be like Paris.
Loads of Love to all and everyone out there, I hope life is treating you well, you're all staying safe and Beautiful.
I'll Be Back, Over & Out, MHx
PS. Matt Henshaw from the USA had a good one, not as good as Matt Henshaw (UK) though ...

Stage Lights & Shakespeare - German Tour Blog
Two more nights down in Deutschland ...
The BuS in Huchting was a beautiful setting - pictured below - a place to play some delicate tunes and great to see some familiar faces down the front. Easier E-Easier they sang and they clapped. Freiden, Leibe und Tee is alive and well.
The Falstaff Shakespeare Theatre, another lovely setting for some music, I attempted a lot of pidgin German, and slipped into Spanish part way through, the audience - no hablan espanol !
Today I head to a TV station on the Weser river and tonight it's a casino show, you never know your luck in a raffle ...

Matt Henshaw Recommends ... The Sherlocks
There's something happening again in South Yorkshire, not only are Sheffield Wednesday on their way back, 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, a run that includes in opposition the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, the Reverend & The Makers recent album was a revelation, something straight out of Arthur Lee's back catalogue with raw Northern songsmithery littered all over it, so comes The Sherlocks ...
A hard working and dedicated band of two sets of brothers churning out seemingly effortlessly brilliant tunes of the highest order. Unafraid to write choruses that will stay with you for the rest of the day, the week, even the rest of your like, and it makes me tingle and warms my heart. Songs are still out there, the well hasn't run dry, I just wish more people and more bands would go fishing.
Enough mixed metaphors, plain and simple, today's the day their third single - 'Heart of Gold' - is released and it follows on nicely from where previously 'Live For The Moment' and 'Escapade' left off ... you probably should buy it ...
Relentlessly touring like myself for the last couple of years, it's a lesson in "digging in", craftsmanship and stealing hearts along the way, music is at it's best when it's giving someone hope and something to believe in in a small town hundreds of miles away from where you're from. And a lot places are miles from Bolton Upon Dearne, but there's someone in Dudley and someone in Derby right now that believes life is worth living.
I've been lucky enough to share a stage with the lads and catch them in non-performance mode, and they're a refreshing bunch of "proper lads", making music that's laddish without being boorish, and poetic without being pretentious and tick all the right boxes in terms of the canon of truly great British bands ... there's something happening here, everybody look what's goin' down ...

Matt Henshaw Recommends ... Caroline Francess ... again ...
Well, this little diamond I found. This absolute gem of an angel ... frum up north ! Sheffield to be precise, and she's a real show stopper.
I've said before that listening to her is like listening to an Original Sound Track, or a Disney film, maybe less frothy, but certainly as catchy and heart string tugging.
Effortlessly switching from humorous ditty to war poetry set to Andrew Lloyd Webber / Elton John solo piano.
I'll tell you something, Burt Bacharach once had a pet duck called Quack Quackarack ... that might not make any sense, but when you think about the combination of Bacharach's humour and genius songwriting, then see Caroline, it will all make sense.
Check her out 'Home' and 'Queen B' you'll be humming whilst washing the dishes or strolling through the park ... and then you think, "hey, she's a Sheffield Wednesday fan too" ... and hey Preston, Robert's your father's brother, and you've got one of my favourite artists right about now !!
Spread The Love, see you and her at my homecoming show in Leicester on Saturday night, gonna be good fun ...

Matt Henshaw Sings ... 'Higher & Higher' by Jackie Wilson
One year ago I played for the last time in Leicester, the city in which I now live, but spend hardly any of my time, so be the schedule of a full-time independent touring musician ! 300 shows, yeah, that's right over 300(!) and 4 top 40 releases on Peace, Love & Tea Records ... nowhere near minimum wage for the hours I put in, but mentally, physically and spiritually enriched from the journey ... and who need money anyway ?!
"Your Love is Lifting Me Higher & Higher", so I sing with the De Montfort University Pentecostal Gospel Choir, EAGA boys and girls, brothers and sisters, I love them so. And the words are true, I wouldn't be able to do anything I do if it wasn't for you, and I'm grateful for that. So extremely grateful.
I love singing these songs, I only sings songs that I like, otherwise, what is the point ? Keep listening, keep spreading the love, and keep it real, so real, look, feel and touch. #BeliefIsAll

Matt Henshaw Recommends ... Hib Word (House Of Verse)
Loves my lyrical lingual delights I do. And Jenny Hibberd is a delightful soul.
Perhaps the first real poet I've recommended, and I don't mean to cause any offence to all the songwriters I've treated you all to, but this is straight up poetry. Words arranged so wonderful that they'll cause emotions in abundance.
You'll laugh for certain, you might just cry. With a finger on the pulse and an ear for the truth, Hib Word makes poetry and prose esoteric and accessible all at once.
Jenny will be bringing shades of her chaos and creation via 'House Of Verse' to my homecoming show in Leicester on Saturday 3rd October ... in all honesty I'd love to take her on the road as my travelling compere and companion.
Spread The Love ! Peace, Love & Tea, MHx

Charity Football Match This Saturday !!
Mornin' Everybody !! Hope you've all had a great Bank Holiday Weekend & Star Wars Day !
For the last week or so I've been in training, or should I say, torturing myself to see how unfit I really am, for this charity football match I am playing in on Saturday ... essentially running around the park at the end of my road a few times ... trying (& failing) to avoid cheese & biscuits ...

Things I Like ... Sporcle (Mentally Stimulating Diversions)
Hello Everybody !! May 4th ... Happy May Day, May Bank Holiday, and indeed, Star Wars Day !! But also, strangely, alas, and furthermore, my Happy Sporcleversary, so I had a message alerting me this morning.
"What on earth is that ??!?" I hear you cry ...
