Since 'Your Eyes Are Made Of Gold' came out I've schlepped through 8 countries and met some incredible, wonderful, beautiful people.  And now I plan to finish the Peace, Love & Tea Tour just down the road from my place of birth in Nottingham City Centre.  I hope you'll all come out for a special big FREE show at the Contemporary in the Lace Market in Nottingham Saturday 18th April !!!



In Other News ...

I've started recording some new material to follow some low-key releases you'll hear about this summer ... my next single will be called 'Easier' and I'm sure you'll love it, you can sing along and I hope you will do from Autumn through Christmas and into the new year !!

Along with some lovely verication on spotify and pinterest I've been added to the litergy of Beautiful People on wikipedia and Famous Birthdays (?) by some Beautiful Soul or another !!  Spread The Love, eh?

Henshaw's Horticultural Blog: Tulips are my Favourites, Happy April Everyone !

Just to reiterate, tulips are my favourite flowers ... just so you know ... just in case it comes up in a pub quiz one day !



It still astounds me that this ...

I'm leaving my garden behind for a week and heading off to Portugal for some Vitamin D so I'll leave you with this educational video to digest in the meantime ... The Botany of Desire ...



... you might be pleased to know I have successfully grown all four of these historically significant plants ! I think some of you should too ... "easy peasy" ... funny saying that, because peas can be quite tricky !

Matt Henshaw & MuthaFunk ...

Morning home boys and girls,

So, last night myself and ReggiiMental were in Birmingham rehearsing with our new group, Brummy soul and funksters, MuthaFunk ! And to say I'm excited like a boy at Christmas with the promise of his first brand new shiny bike would be an understatement !!! I can't wait to start performing live and kicking with these chaps. The new stuff and a bit of the old stuff sounds fantastic with the group.

Here's a little vid of footage from out rehearsal snapped up by BH Media who will be filming some of our live shows this summer for the Coming Around documentary ...


And one exciting show I'll tell you more about shortly is my first Nottingham show in 5 years ... brand new outfit, might even buy a new outfit and it's nice to see Reggii out and fit bouncing around the stage ... Peace & Love !!

Just thought I'd quickly tell you this afternoon about some press bits the new album has been getting ... when I get round to it I'll post them all up here and over at The Matt Henshaw Archive so you can read until your heart's content. The Ilkeston Advertiser, my home town for the first 21 years of my life has done an article about Coming Around today ... UPTWN magazine have kindly posted it to their tumblr. And there's plenty more where that came from. Keep reading, keep listening and tell a friend, especially those who write blogs or lovely newspaper / magazine articles ... you know that's the best way to get a free copy of my album and other people's ... start a blog ... support starving artists everywhere !!

Coming Around on the radio ...

Morning/Afternoon/Evening little world wide web gang of mine,

News to tell you, just over a week before the official release of Coming Around, we've been getting some radio play in the build up. Three tracks have been featured on the waves, online and digital. Coming Around, Concrete Jungle and Everybody Clap Your Hands featuring myself, ReggiiMental, Joey Gzus and Sharlene Gordon. The BBC, Nusic, IceBreaker Radio and more have been playing my stuff, it makes me happy to think people might be listening in the bath, putting up some shelves or doing whatever else people might do with the radio on.

Got some radio sessions, interviews and podcast features coming up; or Coming Around should I say? But I'll tell you about them when they happen, no doubt.

Mixing Coming Around ...

So, in my last blog I told you about the recording of Coming Around by myself and ReggiiMental fresh from the box ... well, the next step was to get in a mix master general to master the sounds and make them fresh.

Joe Rizzle @ PukkaMix fitted the bill perfectly and trips to Tamworth were on the cards, and the album, I must honestly admit sounds as crisp as I ever wanted it to and thought it could be. 15 track Coming Around and coming soon, so very soon, May 1st in fact. I hope you're following the build up to the album on all the social networks, radio outlets and wherever else they're featuring mine and Reggii' faces. It's all good. Sit tight !

Recording Coming Around ...

Good afternoon folks, followers & fantasists,

It's been a short while since my last blog so I thought I'd write one about recording the album. It began in January following the release of the ever innocent ReggiiMental aka. Jimmy B-Boy from HMP for misdemeanours I shall neglect to mention. I went to see my partner in crime [sic] for an afternoon of Yorkshire Tea, LEGO and Ribena ... his creative spirit undamaged we proceeded to record new music with a sense of urgency and feeling of optimism I hadn't had for some time. The new album features 15 songs, so many for such a short space of time, recorded over two months, and my parts written and recorded in perhaps two weeks. I can't wait for you to hear the thing in full, the artwork is pretty snazzy too, and I hope you like the whole package, a lot of love has gone into it. My friends and earthbound spirits, I truly hope it tickles your fancy ...

Sorry for the lack of blogs of late ...

You'll get plenty to read about in good time. I'm working on a few things and a few things need working on.

In the meantime, I am trying to tweet as regularly as I can, so follow me on there - @matthenshaw11 - but do bear in mind that mainly I tweet about football and other sports, and more often than not it's Sheffield Wednesday flavoured ... ha ha! So, see you there ...
