Since 'Your Eyes Are Made Of Gold' came out I've schlepped through 8 countries and met some incredible, wonderful, beautiful people.  And now I plan to finish the Peace, Love & Tea Tour just down the road from my place of birth in Nottingham City Centre.  I hope you'll all come out for a special big FREE show at the Contemporary in the Lace Market in Nottingham Saturday 18th April !!!



In Other News ...

I've started recording some new material to follow some low-key releases you'll hear about this summer ... my next single will be called 'Easier' and I'm sure you'll love it, you can sing along and I hope you will do from Autumn through Christmas and into the new year !!

Henshaw's Horticultural Blog: Strawberry Flowers & Getting Ready for Summer !

Good day mateys !

I've just had a wonderful morning and afternoon tea in the garden. Strawberry flowers everywhere, tulips blooming their last gasps of spring and the greenhouse is toasty and warm, currently housing my peas, hemp, lettuce, tomatoes and more herbs and spices than you'd care to shake a stick at.

Nothing like a cup of Yorkshire Tea when you're sat back admiring it all, and a juice, this afternoon made up of strawberries, mint, pomegranate, grapes, apple, pear, radish and beetroot, yum yum yum ! A real summer fruits affair !!

The weeds will come with a vengeance this time of year, but it pays of the nip a few in the bud and make sure you're flowers and fruits get all the nutrients they may usurp, look out for things like dandelions too that are perfect for adding to your green juices, there are a lot more edible bits in the garden than we're often told about. Most won't kill you, I think it's pretty obvious which one might, steer clear of the unknown berries and really dark green viney foliage.

In the meantime, doing my real job, I've uploaded a couple of acoustic demos to Soundcloud, two songs that will appear on my next EP 'Always In The Way' ... OUT JUNE 16th !!

'The Way It Is' has only been up there a couple of hours and 'Goodnight' a couple of days, but the response already has been fantastic, look out for the full band versions surfacing ... piano skills, strings, guitar solos and lots of other lovely good stuff. Stay Tuned !! Spread The Love, MHx

Just to reiterate, tulips are my favourite flowers ... just so you know ... just in case it comes up in a pub quiz one day !



It still astounds me that this ...



... can become this in just a few short months !



I'm leaving my garden behind for a week and heading off to Portugal for some Vitamin D so I'll leave you with this educational video to digest in the meantime ... The Botany of Desire ...



... you might be pleased to know I have successfully grown all four of these historically significant plants ! I think some of you should too ... "easy peasy" ... funny saying that, because peas can be quite tricky !

Things I Like ... Gardening

Springtime is upon us ! There's nothing better than getting yourself in the garden, hence the existence of Henshaw's Horticultural Blog ...



I loves me some bulbs. The Daffodils, Tulips and Garlics are coming through right now and looking glorious. Come Henshaw trivia for you - the Tulip is my favourite flower. Every man should have a favourite flower, and know his fair maiden's too. And the spiritual paganistic symbolism behind each and every one, well, maybe not that much, but it's important to know what's growing, when where and why?!

I've always enjoyed pottering, my grandad Walter was my hero as an infant, he walked up to his allotment everyday and kept it pristine, weed free and everything in perfect rows. A great man! The other side of my family has pig farmers, keen pruners and very much outdoorsy kind of folk. We're all in the Domesday Book, William the Conquerer knew about the Henshaws, Millses, Hooleys and Watsons.



Gardening is Good. Gardening is Great. It can relieve depression, fatigue, give you a spiritual mystical energy that only getting your hands dirty and in the earth can bring. You are creating life, and in some cases, produce you can eat and live from !

And we need to spread the word to the little ones ! Here's me (above) with the beautiful Becky Edwards' daughter Evelyn. Thank goodness she knows the power of gardening, a shining example to all. Can't wait to hear how her herbs, veg and flowers are getting on !

Also, just a side note, composting can save the world ... or as those inclined to being pinickety about things, composting can help preserve the conditions of the planet to necessitate human survival on the spherical rock floating around the sun.



This is my mum. She likes getting out in the garden. But even if you haven't the time, nouse or energy to plant, rotate, harvest, etc. then get yourself out for a walk, get involved in some nature ... it'll do you the world of good, and the world.

It was her Birthday and Mother's Day in this last month, so as these things come bound together each year, please by my record so then this time next year she'll be reeling from all the nice things that I've done for her !!

Mixing Coming Around ...

So, in my last blog I told you about the recording of Coming Around by myself and ReggiiMental fresh from the box ... well, the next step was to get in a mix master general to master the sounds and make them fresh.

Joe Rizzle @ PukkaMix fitted the bill perfectly and trips to Tamworth were on the cards, and the album, I must honestly admit sounds as crisp as I ever wanted it to and thought it could be. 15 track Coming Around and coming soon, so very soon, May 1st in fact. I hope you're following the build up to the album on all the social networks, radio outlets and wherever else they're featuring mine and Reggii' faces. It's all good. Sit tight !

Recording Coming Around ...

Good afternoon folks, followers & fantasists,

It's been a short while since my last blog so I thought I'd write one about recording the album. It began in January following the release of the ever innocent ReggiiMental aka. Jimmy B-Boy from HMP for misdemeanours I shall neglect to mention. I went to see my partner in crime [sic] for an afternoon of Yorkshire Tea, LEGO and Ribena ... his creative spirit undamaged we proceeded to record new music with a sense of urgency and feeling of optimism I hadn't had for some time. The new album features 15 songs, so many for such a short space of time, recorded over two months, and my parts written and recorded in perhaps two weeks. I can't wait for you to hear the thing in full, the artwork is pretty snazzy too, and I hope you like the whole package, a lot of love has gone into it. My friends and earthbound spirits, I truly hope it tickles your fancy ...
