Tea and Toast with Matt Henshaw and Stu Crown

For the last 7 or 8 months or so, me and my old matey Stu Crown have been doing this 'ere podcast Tea and Toast with Matt Henshaw & Stu Crown, I'm not sure if I've been that vocal about it or spread it and shared it as much as I should've done, or maybe you would expect ... but for a brief period we did venture up into the dizzy heights of the iTunes podcasts chart TOP 10 along with the BBC !!!

Well, I hope now maybe you'll join it's cult following if you're a podcast listener, really have nothing better to do, or fancy hearing me and the grizzly Norfolk bear talk about tea, biscuits and the Green Party at length, then get on it ... sadly Episode 009, recorded Wednesday 3rd December after a 5 month gap, will be the Final Episode, with myself and Crown going on our separate European adventures in the new year ...



I met Stu just over a year ago and it that time I've managed to switch my life around somewhat considerably, Stu's come off the booze, formed a band, split a band and found many a new story to tell ... Leicester City have won the Championship, Yorkshire the Cricket County Championship, England played in and tumultuously exited a World Cup and membership of the Green Party has tripled, but somewhat scarily membership of another political party almost has too ...

We dedicated episodes to late Rik Mayall and the great Chris Waddle, talked about football a fair bit, always did a grand summary of the news, no stone left unturned, drank a lot of Yorkshire Tea, juices loads of fruit and veg, laughed a lot, but mostly we talked about music and a lot about the Leicester Music Scene, of which we've been happily a part of for the last year or so ...

How to Rock the Perfect LinkedIn Profile from LinkedIn

Good evening folks !

You may have seen this, or heard me talking about it on my podcast - Tea and Toast with Matt Henshaw & Stu Crown. I've become a bit of a rockin' poster child for the professional social networking site, LinkedIn.

As part of the company's drive to promote their ability to turn "passion into a profession" I was chosen from the thousands of users on there who play, produce and promote music to represent the sector and tell my story (above) through a Slide Share presentation.



And I am user, click the image to check out my profile, it was quite nice when I updated it all after quitting my job at the University of Leicester, it told me I was an "all-star", even though it's just binary code and digits, it was still uplifting. Then when opportunities started surfacing through using the website I was even happier.

The website got me in touch with a lot of people from my past, who luckily enough were willing to say such nice things about me in professional public forum, and has connected me with loads of potential aids in my "career" - I'm still not keen on that word but I suppose that's what I have embarked on doing this music lark.



I don't want to sit here and type that Linked in is the saviour of all things work related and professional, and I'm sure they'd agree, but particularly in this music game it can be used as an integral way to network online, every different social network in cyber space has it's different uses, and Linked in, unlike say, Facebook, is a great way of expanding your online network beyond your friends and finding people who work specifically in your area.

And it's also nice that this Slide Share by Linked in is aiding me to accomplish my mission of making all my pets, past and present more famous than me, you've already met Tippy The Cat, now let me introduce the star of the slide show ... Bessie the Fancy Goldfish !

Already the most listened to Leicester Music Podcast with the BBC's John Sinclair and featuring your very own new guy in town Matt Henshaw. I come in around 1 hour and 10 minutes into the show. You can hear my tunes and a little interview I did at the O2 Academy with John. It's all about being warm and foxy. Very Nice. Doing loads of press at the minute and I'll post all the bits to this 'ere blog when they become available online ... recently done a Hermitage FM live session featuring a new song 'No Matter How', a Trent Sound session for Jason Loftus on his Nottingham Lace show playing 5 songs and a special version of one of my old favourites, an interview with the Leicester Music Page and and interview for The Ripple magazine.
